HARRIS VOLUNTARY SERVICE
Co-Cheangal Innse Gall (C-CIG) is a partnership of 5 local organisations, Volunteer Centre Western Isles (VCWI),
Outer Hebrides Social Economy Partnership (OHSEP), Volunteering Hebrides (VH), Harris Voluntary Service (HVS)
and Voluntary Action Barra and Vatersay (VABV).
It was formed in November 2010 in response to changes in government policy relating to the support of the
volunteering, social enterprise and voluntary sectors.
In 2008, the Scottish Government set out new proposals for devolving third sector funding to local area level, through the
creation of a single interface comprised of the volunteering, social enterprise and voluntary sectors.
This was followed by a joint statement on the relationship at local level between Government and the Third Sector in September
2009. The Scottish Government proposes that as of March 2011 a single allocation of core funding for Third Sector support will
be made to each local authority area, with responsibility for the determination of specific outcomes to be devolved to local
areas.
Alongside creating a stronger working relationship between the 5 partner organisations C-CIG will create a representative
relationship between the third sector in the Outer Hebrides and the Community Planning Partnership.
Co Cheangal Innse Galls vision is of an Outer Hebrides where all citizens and organisations are empowered and enabled to
grow a strong and vibrant community.
Their mission is to empower and enable our communities by developing and supporting volunteering, voluntary organisations
and social enterprise and building third sectors reputation and relationships with partners.
